Can Waste be turned into Art? Participate in the Sterling Bank STEM RecyclArt Competition for a Chance to Win N1,250,000

If you’ve seen the Lagos flood on social media or witnessed the flood first hand, then you know it’s no laughing matter. I mean, a man kayaked in front of Silverbird Cinema. Hundreds of Nigerians lost their homes and possessions in the floods caused by our waste, blocking up the city’s drainage. We don’t have to look far to see the damage we cause the environment by throwing our pure water sachets, gala wrappers, plastic bottles, tyres and boiled corn on the streets – boiled corn guys! It is clear that we need to rethink our attitude towards waste disposal.

The STEM RecyclArt Competition poses the question – Can waste be turned into art? The competition challenges us to change the way we look at our trash and explores turning recyclable (recovered, found or repurposed) materials that are ugly and cause damage to our environment, into great works of art that celebrate Nigerian culture.

Use your creativity to take back your environment by turning your trash into stunning art. Our environment is a part of who we are, it is our culture. So, let our culture brag with swag.

Four innovative works of art from zonal regions Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Ogun and Abuja will be awarded the Grand Prize of N1,250,000 each.

Using the number, email a 300-word written description of your intended artwork, stating the method of execution and waste materials to be used and your 3-page proposal and pdf containing (Application Bio Form, Proposal and Sketch) to recyclart@sterlingbankng.com

The PDF files submitted should be titled as follows:
